OvaEasy Project

OvaEasy has 1 main goal. To make eating a healthy breakfast fun and easy for kids and parents.

Here you see the very concept for Sunny Egg. Since it wasn’t kid like enough, I gave him a full makeover.

As you can see, it will even work well in 1-color

Here is the whole family of OvaEasy flavors.

Mingle Project

A fun project indeed.

As you can see, I also came up with various ways to use the logo and created icons as well. It took 2 days to find the perfect shades of blue for the client.

Kaliware Project

Gyrl-to-Gyrl Logo

It’s a place for women to connect wth other women for dating, socializing and to see what’s going on in the ATL.

Chileno Relief

The Chileno Relief Campaign was created by Martha Stephens after she personally experienced one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded in the history of the world, while there on business. It devastated hundreds of thousands of families and left them homeless, without shelter, food, clothing and many lost their jobs as well. Martha has personally seen massive personal loss and has spoken to many Chileno’s who are crying for help. They feel abandoned because the world has forgotten about them.

A little about copyright and logos

I have been doing a ton of research trying to find some straight forward answers on copyright and other legal things that go with logo design. It’s all very stressful to wade through. Here’s one thing I read about:

• If you edit a font or any part of a font for a logo, you may be violating copyright law, even if you own a license to use the font. In most cases, purchasing the font simply means you will be able to use it on one computer without legal issues. It’s also okay to print text with the font. Editing is a whole different story. If you are going to edit a font, you must first get the permission of whoever created it. Once you obtain a user agreement that states it’s okay to edit any part of the type, you’re golden.

This is just one of the complicated issues that face designers. To be honest, I wouldn’t have given it much thought when it comes to a font in a logo. If you’d like to read more about it, Just Creative Design has a very nice article on all that copyright stuff. One things that’s certain it that we all have to do research on what we do, and make sure we don’t break any rules.

New Vancouver Whitecaps FC Logo

Before

After (courtesy of ctvbc.ctv.ca)

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC unveiled their new logo, and what a beauty. It took 10 months of work to get this logo. It represents the mountains and the reflection of them in the water. You can read all about it here: http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20100608/bc_whitecaps_new_logo_100608/20100608/?hub=BritishColumbiaHome

Logos tend to take a lot of time and work. Even though the concept seems simple enough, coming to this conclusion took a lot of time. I’m sure it will pay off. The new logo is sleek and fits into smaller spaces easier than the previous one. I personally think this new logo may even attract some new fans.

Make it fancy

One thing I think is cool, is a logo that looks great flat, and one that looks even cooler with some kind of effect. One cool example is by Alberto ‘Kaiser’ on Guerra.

This is a great example of how a simple logo can look good plain and all beefed up. There’s an example of how to do this here, but I don’t know if you need to be a member to see it or not. It starts as a nice vector logo, and then is done in photoshop for the effects. Personally I think this is a great way to show the capabilities of your design to the client. What do you think? Is it too much? I guess there’s a limit to how much web 2.0 one can take. I’m actually wondering if this is web 2.0 or something better? It has the shine of the web 2.0 designs, but I think this looks nicer than the typical shine bubble over the design.
