Dynamic Drive CSS

I have had a little bit of fun going through all the things you can do at Dynamic Drive. There are a lot of things in there that can really help no matter what you need. For example, I created this cool little pop-up through there. I’m not as much of a noob as I used to be, so I was able to apply the css without too much trouble. Just thought you’d like the reference.

Do you love the new JetPack plugin by WordPress, but hate the smiley that still seems to find you through Stats? I actually haven’t seen him around, but sometimes he pops up on other pages and sites. I wouldn’t bother with the plugin to get rid of it. It’s WAY easier to just make him disappear. There’s been lots of do this way not that way stuff, I just like to stay safe and use this code:

Some of you may not know how to do this, so I will tell you the easiest way. When you’re logged into wordpress, go to Appearence –> Editior and look for style.css Add that little piece of code in there. I just make a section at the bottom of all the code that looks like this:

-------------------------------------------------------------- */
img#wpstats{
	display:block;
	height: 0px;
	width: 0px;
	visibility: hidden;
}

I usually add all my extra codes in that way, and keep a separate basic text file on my computer of all the changes I make (change log) on the site.

Adding phone links

Helpful little tidbit of info for those who have phone numbers in your websites. If you want your phone number to be clickable on a smart phone, in most cases this will happen by default because the phone can recognize phone number like patterns. This can also happen for things that just look like a phone number. If you want to disable phone number links, you can simply add this nice little line of code to your site:

Adding a clickable phone number is very helpful though. I actually had to add one to an image before, and it worked on the iphone and android phones. Just add a line of html like you would for a link or email, but using the tel tag:

Simple and works well. Of course the same rule applies if you want to add the code to text. Just take out the image part and write it how you would for a link.
